The
first rifle hunt is in late August in northeast New
Mexico. The second hunt is in September in southeast New
Mexico. Licenses are through a
draw. The odds of drawing are good, a limited number of
guaranteed licenses are available. These hunts
are not physically demanding and generally provide a lot of
action. The success rate on these hunts is very high.
The majority of the bucks taken on these hunts are mature bucks
with horns at least 14" or longer.
